More than a Map

A continent built from contrast - savannah plains, delta, desert, and coast.
WHERE WE GO

A Continent of Contrasts

Each region carries its own landscape, wildlife, and reason for going. Southern Africa moves between delta, desert, and coastline. East Africa centres on open plains, the drama of migration, and mountain gorillas in Rwanda and Uganda. Central Africa's rainforest holds lowland gorillas deep in the Congo Basin, while Madagascar and Seychelles close a journey somewhere entirely apart from the bush.

ACROSS THE CONTINENT

Thriteen Countries, No Two Alike

The Details Make the Journey.

Every country on this map holds its own version of Africa. From gorillas moving through highland forest to lions crossing open plains, from private islands to rivers walked on foot - the details are what turn a country into a journey worth taking.
SOUTHERN AFRICA

Delta, Desert and Coastline

Southern Africa holds some of the continent's most varied terrain - the Okavango's flooded channels, the Kalahari's salt pans, Victoria Falls, and a coastline to close the journey. Six countries, each with its own reason for going.

EAST AFRICA

Plains, Migration and Gorillas

East Africa holds the scenes most people picture when they think of safari - the Maasai Mara, Serengeti, and the Great Migration between them. Rwanda and Uganda add mountain gorillas and highland forest close by. Four countries, each offering its own version of safari.

CENTRAL AFRICA & INDIAN OCEAN

Rainforests and Remote Islands

Republic of Congo holds dense rainforest and lowland gorillas deep in the Congo Basin. Madagascar and Seychelles sit apart from it entirely, in the Indian Ocean - one built around wildlife found nowhere else, the other around private islands and warm water.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to help narrow down where to go, before you start the conversation. Still unsure? Get in touch, and we'll help you find the right fit.
How do I choose which country to visit?
Start with what draws you in rather than trying to compare all thirteen at once. Some travellers are pulled toward a specific experience, like gorilla trekking or the Great Migration, which narrows things down immediately. Others know the kind of pace or landscape they want - remote and on foot, or private and beach-based - before they know the country. Either starting point works, and a conversation with your craftsman will narrow it further from there.
Can I visit more than one country in a single trip?
Yes, and most journeys do combine two or three. Light aircraft connect most of these countries directly, so moving between them rarely means retracing your steps through a major city. Common combinations include Kenya and Tanzania for a longer East Africa circuit, or Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana for a Southern Africa journey moving between walking safaris and the Okavango Delta.
Which countries are best for a first safari?
Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa are generally the easiest starting points, with well-established infrastructure, classic Big Five wildlife, and a wide range of camp styles to suit different budgets and paces. Rwanda and Uganda suit first-timers specifically drawn to gorilla trekking, while more remote destinations like Zambia, Namibia, or the Republic of Congo often work better once you've done at least one safari before.
Do I need to choose a country before getting in touch?
No. Many people start the conversation with only a rough idea, or none at all, and work out the destination from there. Telling your craftsman what you're hoping to experience, whether that's a particular animal, a type of landscape, or simply time away, is often a better starting point than picking a country off a list.
Which countries pair well with a beach or island stay?
Mozambique and the Seychelles are the most natural pairings, since both are set up for exactly this kind of finish and connect easily by flight from most Southern and East Africa safari countries. A Botswana or South Africa safari closes well with Mozambique's islands, while Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda connect more directly with the Seychelles or Zanzibar. The right pairing usually comes down to flight routing and how much time you have left at the end of the trip.

Unsure on Where to Go?

That's what the conversation is for. Let's talk it through, and go from there.
